A mother of five children
Zahra is a mother of five children who lived in Douar Bouaantar Ljabl, Ouaoula municipality, Azilal province, in a very isolated region of Maroc.
Her illness
Zahra was 46 years old. She suffered from a very serious illness: primary biliary cholangitis at the stage of hepatic cirrhosis with refractory ascites.
Her liver was severely affected, her abdomen was filling with fluid, and her condition required urgent medical attention. Without a liver transplant, Zahra was at risk of dying.
We had received videos and images of her daily life that we did not show out of respect for her dignity. Zahra was living a true ordeal: she suffered enormously and was very weakened.
A family in precariousness
Zahra lived in great precariousness, far from hospitals and specialized care. Her family did not have the means to pay for examinations, travel, and treatments. Her husband wished to offer himself as a donor, in the hope of giving her a chance to live.
The mobilization
Our association had launched an appeal to finance her care, examinations, travel, hospitalization, and necessary medical procedures. 205 € were raised on the partner platform CotizUp.
