🚨 An urgent Liver for Yamen ❗️

A baby only a few months old is currently hospitalized in Algeria.

He is in pain, he cries, he barely sleeps at night… and his parents, exhausted and without resources, no longer know where to turn to save their child. 💔🙏

Our association was contacted to help little Nasri Yamen, an infant approximately 109 days old, currently cared for at the Mansourah Children's Hospital in Constantine, Algeria.

Since birth, Yamen has shown very worrying signs: severe jaundice, dark urine, pale stools, and fatigue that alarmed the doctors.

After several examinations, doctors diagnosed biological cholestasis and severe damage to the bile ducts. The ultrasound also showed involvement of the liver and spleen, as well as a reduced-size gallbladder.

Faced with the persistence of his condition, doctors decided to operate. Little Yamen underwent a major procedure called the Kasai procedure, a surgery performed on some infants with biliary atresia. This condition prevents bile from properly draining from the liver, which can quickly cause severe damage to an infant's body.

Despite this operation, Yamen had to be re-hospitalized. Today, his condition remains very concerning. His liver is severely affected and, now, the only hope to save him is a liver transplant. This transplant represents his chance at life, but it requires significant resources, examinations, specialized care, and urgent medical support.

Yamen is still so small. He is in pain, cries a lot, does not sleep at night, and his parents live every hour in anguish. Seeing one's baby suffer without being able to provide the necessary care is an unimaginable pain.

His father works, but in Algeria, an average salary does not allow a family to cover such medical costs: examinations, travel, treatments, hospitalizations, transplant procedures, and medical follow-up. His parents have already knocked on every door: neighbors, relatives, cousins, their entire circle… They have tried everything. Today, they have no other choice but to ask for help.

This baby is only a few months old. He should be sleeping peacefully, being rocked, smiling, and growing gently in his parents' arms. Instead, he already knows hospitals, surgeries, pain, and medical emergencies. 💔

Our association works worldwide to assist sick children and families who cannot afford essential medical care. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we have already been able to support and help save many children. Today, it is Yamen who needs us.

We are therefore launching an appeal for solidarity to fund his liver transplant, as well as all the essential care surrounding it: tests, compatibility screenings, hospitalization, treatments, travel, and medical follow-up.
