His father contacted us, broken, exhausted, devastated by his child's suffering. For months, he has watched his baby boy deteriorate before his eyes, unable to afford the operation that could save him.

Khalil suffers from biliary atresia, a serious liver disease. When the bile ducts do not function properly, bile cannot drain normally. It builds up in the body, damages the liver, and causes pain, extreme fatigue, and unbearable itching, as if the entire body were itching from the inside.

Today, Khalil barely sleeps. He cries, he is in pain, he barely eats. His abdomen is severely swollen due to fluid buildup. His condition is advanced. His prothrombin level is very low, putting him at risk of hemorrhage.

His father does not sleep either. He has reached his limit. He tries to feed him, to soothe him, to keep going… but how can anyone stay strong when their baby is suffering day and night? 💔

Khalil's only chance is a liver transplant. His father is ready to be his donor. The procedure must take place in Turkey, as medical infrastructure in his home country cannot support this delicate surgery.

And unfortunately, this situation is all too familiar to us.

For years, at SOS Greffe, we have been supporting families who do not have the financial means to fund a transplant abroad. Parents who love their children more than anything, but find themselves powerless against the cost of a vital operation.
