We must save Takwa's life! π¨π¨
The life of this 8-month-old little girl is in danger. Her life is at risk with every passing day. She urgently needs a transplant.
π Takwa's mother now has only one hope: to reach people touched by her distress who will share her appeal for donations and help spread the word to save her daughter.
Takwa suffers from liver cirrhosis secondary to biliary atresia.
The little girl was born with this severe congenital disease, for which the only outcome is a very costly and complex liver transplant. In Algeria, living-donor liver transplantation is not performed.
Takwa is in the end stage of liver failure, and the transplant must be performed without delay.
Takwa presents with significant hepatosplenomegaly, which is a direct consequence of her condition.
Children with biliary atresia are prone to numerous infections, as the liver plays a vital role in resisting infections.
Children suffering from liver failure endure great pain and are at risk of multiple complications (cardiovascular, infectious, hemorrhagic, etc.).
The liver is a complex chemical factory operating 24 hours a day. It processes virtually everything you eat, drink, or absorb through your skin. And these are only a few of the 500 different functions essential to life.
Doctors indicate that Takwa has a strong chance of survival if the transplant takes place as soon as possible. We are counting on your solidarity.
If we raise the necessary funds, Takwa will travel to Turkey to undergo a living-donor liver transplant, with her mother as the donor.
The liver is the only organ in our body capable of regenerating on its own. In humans, up to three-quarters of the liver can be removed, and it will return to its original size within 4 months.
Following the transplant, she will return to the intensive care unit where she will receive immunosuppressive therapy, with a high risk of post-transplant infections due to these treatments aimed at preventing graft rejection.
